Fibromyalgia is a painful condition that is many times misunderstood. It is characterized by pain and tenderness, numbness and tingling, and many sufferers experience chronic fatigue and sleep disturbance. Pain after exercise is common and many people experience hypersensitivity to touch.

Fibromyalgia is characterized in two different ways:

  • As an extreme hypersensitivity to touch. What this means is that even light touching can cause intense pain in your body due to a tightening of your tissue.
  • Extreme pain after exercise. Exercise or any type of activity can be made much harder when you are suffering from fibromyalgia because often your trigger points are targeted when exercising. However, there are ways to overcome this pain and to get into a routine that will help you feel better and healthier. Most of our patients are happy to be working with a practitioner that treats fibromyalgia pain and takes their pain seriously.

At Walker Physical Therapy and Pain center we take Fibromyalgia seriously and work with each patient to create an individualized program the is gentle and effective.
